Where do you want to go?

Assignment Background

In this lecture were taught the importance of understand the end user of our products. My class was introduced to the concept of Personas to help align product purposes with the right users.

However, we also learned the pitfalls of Personas in UX Design — such as including unnecessary sliders, personality traits, or certain demographics. In order to combat this, we were challenged to think about what information would benefit the product.

Assignment Task

My task was to create two User Persona based on the User Interviews I performed. I looked through the interviews in my data and sorted out common data such as demographics, pain points, needs, and goals and condensed them into a single Persona. Data that was not common among my interviewees was discarded or not included.

To keep the assignment consistent among our cohort: we needed to include name, age, and background information despite learning about the pitfalls.

What was a difficult challenge you faced during the assignment?

Seeing the data and attempting to "average" or "condense" it into one person proved to be difficult at first. To approach this, I decided to summate any key quotes or findings for one participant, and continued with the rest. I was able to discover commonalities this way to help develop my Personas.

Learnings

Understand what's needed

Although we were required to include information that could be useless to our solution; I approached the assignment with the intent of understanding what key information should be in a Persona.
